The motto: Empower Your Research - Preserve Your Data
Research, especially in light of digital transformation, needs a coordinated environment. This includes powerful infrastructures and tools that will ensure the management, backup and storage of research data over its entire life-cycle and enable the data to be easily shared with research and education communities.
Sustainable and transparent availability and accessibility of data are two of the most important requirements – not only for one's own research but also for interdisciplinary and international academic collaboration. Furthermore, availability and accessibility are important conditions for the acquisition of knowledge and prompting new scientific inquiries.
These vital aspects can be efficiently facilitated and supported by paying closer attention to, inter alia:
-
the assessment of data quality,
-
the use of appropriate metadata schemes,
-
the selection of adequate repositories and databanks,
-
and the security of digital infrastructure as well as
-
the technical, legal and ethical aspects of data preservation
in the context of research data management.
The Event Format: Conference program
The multifaceted and diverse offerings of the conference ensure that everyone can get the most out of the E-Science-Tage for themselves and their individual needs. Mutual learning, exchange, networking - there is something for everyone.
Tandem-Talks
Joint presentations given by researchers and representatives from our infrastructure and science partners, highlighting concepts, developments and services as well as demands and benefits related to research data management
Technology Track
Presentations about technical problems, the solutions developed to address them and their concrete implementations.
Lightning Talks
Concise, five-minute presentations on individual projects, challenges and foci in the field of E-Science
Poster-Session
Provides the opportunity for infrastructure facilities and E-Science projects to introduce themselves in a poster-based format.
Workshops
Services, tools or projects with practical applications presented in a scientific context.
Podium Discussion
The closing discussion among experts on a relevant topic from the fields of E-Science and research data management.
These (and other) issues will be discussed
-
How does the preservation and storage of research data promote the reuse and/or re-purposing of data?
-
How does data retention contribute to the advancement of research quality and scientific progress?
-
How can the storage of research data assist and advance your own career in scientific research?
-
How can the storage of research data strengthen your own research and reinforce its importance?
-
What formats and infrastructures are best suited for these purposes?
-
What are the security challenges associated with the digital preservation of data?
-
What do the data protection legal framework for data collection and the security of the supporting infrastructure look like?
-
In the words of the conference motto: How does "preserving your data" lead to "empowering your research"?
